Welcome to Katalyst. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Katalyst platform available at getkatalyst.dev ("Service", "Platform"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.
Please read these Terms carefully before using the Platform. We recommend that you also review our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and use your personal data.
2. Definitions
- "Katalyst", "we", "us", or "our" refers to the Katalyst platform and its operators
- "User", "you", or "your" refers to any individual who accesses or uses the Service
- "Service" refers to the Katalyst web application, including all features, tools, content, and functionality available at getkatalyst.dev
- "Content" refers to any data, text, documents, or materials you create, upload, or store using the Service, including CVs, invoices, proposals, and related documents
- "AI Features" refers to functionality powered by artificial intelligence, including CV enhancement, text generation, and analysis tools
- "Subscription" refers to a paid plan that provides access to premium features
3. Account Registration
To use the Platform, you must create an account. By registering, you agree to the following:
- You must be at least 16 years of age to create an account and use the Service
- You must provide accurate and complete information during registration and keep your account information up to date
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised access to your account
- Each account is for a single individual. You may not share your account credentials or allow others to access your account
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
4. Use of the Service
Katalyst provides tools for job seeking and freelancing, including:
- AI-powered CV builder with templates, ATS checking, and job matching
- Job application tracker with interview preparation tools
- Invoice generator and expense tracker for freelancers
- Tax calculator for self-employed individuals (supports UK and US tax systems)
- Proposal generator and client management tools
- Rate calculator for freelancer pricing
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service for any of the following purposes:
- Any activity that is illegal, fraudulent, or harmful under the laws of England and Wales or any other applicable jurisdiction
- Creating CVs, cover letters, or other documents that contain knowingly false or misleading information
- Generating fraudulent invoices, proposals, or financial documents
- Attempting to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other user accounts, or any systems or networks connected to the Service
- Scraping, crawling, or using automated means to access or collect data from the Platform without our express written permission
- Impersonating another person, organisation, or entity
- Interfering with or disrupting the integrity or performance of the Service
- Uploading or transmitting viruses, malware, or any other malicious code
- Using the Service to send unsolicited communications, spam, or bulk messages
- Reselling, sublicensing, or commercially exploiting the Service without our prior written consent
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you have violated these acceptable use terms.
6. Subscription and Billing
- Katalyst offers a free plan with limited features and paid subscription plans with expanded capabilities
- The Pro plan is available at £9.99 per month or £59 per year (equivalent to £4.92 per month)
- A Lifetime plan is available as a one-time payment of £149, providing permanent access to all Pro features
- Prices are displayed in your local currency. VAT is included where applicable
- Payment is processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your payment card details
- Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date
- We reserve the right to change subscription prices with at least 30 days' notice. Price changes will take effect at the start of your next billing period following the notice
7. Free and Pro Plans
The Free plan includes limited access to core features, including:
- 1 CV with the Professional template
- Up to 5 AI-powered enhancements per day
- Up to 10 job application listings
- Up to 3 invoices per month
- Basic expense tracking and tax calculator
The Pro plan unlocks all features, including:
- Unlimited CVs with all 5 templates
- Unlimited AI-powered enhancements
- Unlimited job applications with full analytics
- Interview preparation and AI mock interviews
- Unlimited invoices with automated reminders
- Receipt uploads and cash flow projections
- Client management and unlimited proposals
- Report exports and clean PDFs without branding
8. Cancellation and Refunds
- You may cancel your subscription at any time from your Settings page. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to Pro features until the end of your current billing period
- We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee for new Pro subscriptions. If you are not satisfied within the first 14 days, you can request a full refund
- Lifetime plan purchases are eligible for a full refund within 14 days of purchase. After 14 days, Lifetime purchases are non-refundable
- To request a refund, contact us at support@getkatalyst.dev with your account email and the reason for your request
- After cancellation and the end of your billing period, your account will revert to the Free plan. Your data will be preserved, but access to Pro features will be restricted
9. Intellectual Property
- Your Content: You retain full ownership of all Content you create using the Service, including CVs, cover letters, invoices, proposals, expense records, and any other documents or data. We do not claim ownership of your Content
- Our Platform: Katalyst, including its design, code, user interface, AI prompt templates, brand assets, and all associated intellectual property, is owned by us and protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws
- Licence to us: By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and display your Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. This licence terminates when you delete your account
- No AI training: We do not use your Content to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models
10. AI-Generated Content
Katalyst includes AI-powered features that generate suggestions, enhancements, and content. By using these features, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
- AI features provide suggestions and assistance only. They are tools to aid your work, not replacements for your own judgement
- You are solely responsible for reviewing, verifying, and approving all AI-generated content before using it in any CV, cover letter, invoice, proposal, or other document
- AI-generated suggestions should not be treated as professional advice, whether legal, financial, tax, or career-related. For professional advice, consult a qualified professional
- We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any AI-generated content
- You must not include false or misleading information in your CVs or other documents, regardless of whether that information was suggested by our AI features
- Tax calculations and financial insights provided by AI features are estimates based on publicly available tax rates and should not be relied upon as tax advice. Always consult a qualified accountant for tax matters
11. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data. By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood our Privacy Policy.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis
- We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or business opportunities
- Our total aggregate liability to you for any and all claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the total amount you have paid to us in the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim
- We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from outages, interruptions, or failures of third-party services that the Platform depends on, including but not limited to Stripe, Clerk, Anthropic, PostHog, and Vercel
- We are not liable for any decisions you make based on content generated by AI features, tax calculations, rate suggestions, or any other output of the Service
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law.
13. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- We make no warranties or representations, whether express or implied, regarding the Service, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement
- We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components
- We do not warrant that AI-generated content will be accurate, complete, or suitable for your particular needs
- We do not warrant that using the Service will result in securing employment, winning clients, or achieving any specific financial outcome
- Tax calculations are based on publicly available tax rates and are provided for estimation purposes only. They do not constitute tax advice
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Katalyst and its operators from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your breach of these Terms; (c) your violation of any applicable law or regulation; (d) content you create, publish, or share using the Service, including CVs, invoices, or proposals containing false or misleading information; or (e) any dispute between you and a third party arising from your use of the Service.
15. Termination
- You may terminate your account at any time by deleting it from your Settings page. This will permanently remove all your data and cancel any active subscription
- We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent activity, or used the Service in a way that could harm us or other users
- We may terminate or suspend the Service entirely with reasonable notice. In such cases, we will provide a pro-rated refund for any prepaid subscription fees
- Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Intellectual Property, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, and Governing Law) will survive
16. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a prominent notice within the Platform at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with the revised Terms, you must stop using the Service and delete your account.
17. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
